Oh, Rest My Soul (Matthew 11:28-29, James 4:8)

https://vimeo.com/41161115

My first composed praise!!

Oh, rest my soul! Oh, rest my weak soul!

罪擔千斤重壓下來 倦困酸苦盼為我解開
Oh, rest my soul! Oh, rest my weak soul!
像祢的心謙卑柔和 負祢的軛得安息安穩

* 我想親近 我主我神
求祢靠近 施恩潔淨我身心
我想親近 我主我神
求祢靠近 lift up my soul!

Oh, rest my soul! Oh, rest my weak soul!
像祢的心謙卑柔和 負祢的軛得安息安穩
Oh, rest my soul!

Some photos i took for ‘NU’ Quartet recently outside Arts Centre, Wanchai.  These photos have become my favourites! I still remember the weather was very hot though the performance was in the early evening. I was very delighted to take those photos and at at the smae time to listen jazz music!!

responsibility

It was the last church service in which i was in-charge of all the organ pieces. I played 2 pieces from Bach’s short preludes and fugues. I also played ‘More Love to Thee, O Lord & What A Friend I have in Jesus’. I chose these pieces specifically because the sermon we had this morning was a very important and serious topic … it was on responsibility and shouldering of God’s work and the steps to take in order to respond to His love for us.

Yes, the structure of our Church is going to be pulled down very soon … but when it is going to be rebuilt, we will be proud to enter the doors because we made efforts to transform and continue to serve God.

Her Morning Elegance – Oren Lavie

Sun been down for days
A pretty flower in a vase
A slipper by the fireplace
A cello lying in its case

Soon she’s down the stairs
Her morning elegance she wears
The sound of water makes her dream
Awoken by a cloud of steam
She pours a daydream in a cup
A spoon of sugar sweetens up

And She fights for her life
As she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain
As it pours
And she fights for her life
As she goes in a store
With a thought she has caught
By a thread
She pays for the bread
And She goes…
Nobody knows

Sun been down for days
A winter melody she plays
The thunder makes her contemplate
She hears a noise behind the gate
Perhaps a letter with a dove
Perhaps a stranger she could love

And She fights for her life
As she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain
As it pours
And she fights for her life
As she goes in a store
With a thought she has caught
By a thread
She pays for the bread
And She goes…
Nobody knows

And She fights for her life
As she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain
As it pours
And she fights for her life
Where people are pleasently strange
And counting the change
And She goes…
Nobody knows

Keith Jarrett’s ‘The melody at night, with you’

I love you Porgy
I got it bad and that ain’t good
Don’t ever leave me
Someone to watch over me
My wild Irish rose
Blame it on my youth
Meditation
Something to remember you by
Be my love
Shenandoah
I’m through with love

I am listening this CD from time to time! Is wonderful to listen at night as the name of the CD suggests! Keith Jarrett’s piano performance is extremely soothing! My favourite songs are ‘Blame it on my youth’ and ‘My Wild Irish Rose’!

Ono Lisa

My Boy (music by Ono Lisa, lyrics by Tom Walker)

First time I saw my son,
I knew I was in love.
Because he was the gift I
got from somewhere up above.
O wow, o yes, o joy, so joy right
here in my arms.
He looks at me, I can see he’s
showing all his charms.
Can’t remember what I do
before I saw his face.
But now he’s here and I can
feel his amazing grace.

Watching him play, somehow
reminds me of myself.
Once upon a different time
when I was someone else.
O me, o my, I feel so high
every single day.
O yes, o lay, my lord yea
yea watching my son play.
First time he’d walk detours
I step in to a chance.
I took his hand and then we
start it likes dance.
The first dance was so fine
that I never will forget.
He held my hand so tightly
that I had start dancing yet.

My love, my boy, my son,
my joy always keep your glow.
And know that love will be
with you wherever you may go.
And if something should fall
apart somewhere down the line.
Just tell me all about it and
I will make it fine.

I’d travel many roads before but
somehow they were wrong.
And sometime we find that life
is just a simple song.
Even the saddest songs ever human face.
I will always keep my son
in love’s magic place.

Ono Lisa's Pretty World

Ono Lisa best 2002-2006

Well, I was introduced to the music of Ono Lisa by my good friend, a great fan of the ‘Queen of Bossa Nova’ … and I really enjoy listening while doing my assignments … her bossa nova and other songs are wonderful as it magically creates a happy environment though i might be puzzled by my work! I think this song has meaningful lyrics! When it flows with the melody and the arrangements, her words has this spark of comforting power! And if you want to listen to her here in Hong Kong, she will be performing during the Hong Kong Arts Festival next year … so buy your tickets! This is her official website: http://www.onolisa.com

Jazz Inspirations for Organ

I was playing music pieces from the 2nd volume of this series of scores! I bought this at Barbican when i was visiting London earlier in June. I really enjoy the arrangements and harmony … some pieces are for Church Services and some are for concerts. The modern arrangements and the swings of the beat renewed the traditional instrument, giving it fresh air and a new identity. I was really happy after service this morning because friends and came up to the organ said how much they enjoyed the melodies. I have just now requested the 1st volume of the book from the Chinese University … and hopefully it will soon arrive. And also, the 3rd volume is ‘purchasable’ … and is pretty much expensive like the 2nd volume. Well, i hope i can save a bit of money and buy it! Almost forgot to mention why i bought the 2nd volume … much because of its outstanding cover with a beautiful red petal on!
